About Exeter CRC

Exeter Christian Reformed Church is a denominational church located in Exeter Ontario, Canada. Our church was planted in 1951, by immigrating families from the Netherlands and has been growing ever since. We came from the Netherlands, but today, although a majority of our members are still from Dutch backgrounds, we can't honestly be called a Dutch church.

Exeter CRC is a place where people can feel comfortable. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been attending church for a long time, if you’ve never attended church at all, or if you're moving to this area and transfering from another church. We do our best to make people feel welcome, and our church service reflects that. Friendly people, lively worship, and challenging messages combined with a warm atmosphere to make our church a place people enjoy coming to.

We’re focused on living life the way Jesus did. We’re all about relationships….with God and with people. Through our relationships with each other, we’re able to support and care for people. Through our relationship with God, we’re able to enjoy true life. Life as God intended!

The Christian Reformed Church has its roots in the Reformation of the sixteenth century. We believe that we cannot earn our salvation through good works and that the Scripture is the guide by which we evaluate our practices as Christians.

Our Name

Christian because we confess that we belong to Jesus Christ and want to be his followers; Reformed because we're part of that historic branch of the Christian church; Church because God has called us to be a fellowship of his people in the world. We often call ourselves the CRC for short.

Historically

We came from the Netherlands, but today, although a majority of our members are still from Dutch backgrounds, we can't honestly be called a Dutch church.  The large immigration of Dutch Calvinists to Canada in the early 1950s brought many new churches into the CRC. While the Dutch Canadians shared a commitment to the Reformed confessions, they differed from their American cousins in life experience, mindset, and moral and religious values. Yet both groups shared a genuine desire and commitment to remain obedient to God's Word - a solid foundation on which to build a bi-national church.
